There is so much horribleness in the world that needs to be unlearned, reframed and resolved. I have found so much power in curiosity. I wanted to find a way to express all of this in a song to keep hope alive that is possible to get to a better world. Musically I have always wanted to be in a big rock band, so I realized with this song that I am playing all the roles of a rock band. It was fun to try out more effects and create a big bombastic lead!

Flip it upside down

Why don’t we flip it upside down
Why don’t we turn it on its head
We’ve seen the ways it got screwed up
Now let’s see what we could do instead

Let’s say it’s possible to change
Let’s say it’s possible to learn
What would we do to make it better now
What would we do after it burns?

Stay here with me
inside this curiosity
if the question isn’t answered
if the answer isn’t found
Turn around and Listen for a sound
this is the sacred place of now

I don’t know exactly what to say
To make this go away
I don’t know what would move the needle
or pull a sword out of a stone
lift the cold fog
shine the light back to home
I just don’t know

Why don’t we make it work for good?
Some of us tried a trick or two
are the incentives understood
Why don’t we teach this at our schools?

Why don’t we move ahead somehow
Let’s at least just take a step
we need this shift to make a change
to stand up for our selves
