Track Name: Sister Over the Sea
Sister Over the Sea
(by Rachel Amey)

We see the same moon
Sister over the sea
We see the same moon
How can that be?

When I am here
With the wind in the trees
My feet on the earth
And the rain on the leaves

And you are there
Wherever “there” may be
A land I do not know
A life I cannot see

When I peg out my washing I think of you
When my wrists ache and my bones are yours
When I carry heavy shopping I think of you
When memory jolts my path or the night sky makes me pause

We see the same moon
Sister over the sea
We see the same moon
How can that be?

Face to face
We were tangled in threads
that we never bothered to see
But now – apart
My god they pull at me

I tell the moon that I’m asking for you
Though I don’t expect you to hear
But I imagine you’ve told her all of your news
And I feel unaccountably near

And if the threads between us should snap or tear
I would fall from this place where I live
I’ll meet you under a bridge on the moon
And she’ll help me with the stories I’ve saved up to give

We see the same moon
Sister over the sea
We see the same moon
How can that be?
