This rewrite originated as a relationship song. As a teenager when this was written I was rather obsessed with understanding love and relationships. What I wanted to carry forward was a sensibility of how relationships are impacted by time and how emotions get digested and internalized and integrated. As I considered time it became apparent that as much as things change over a life time it takes a full life time, or rather it takes forever our whole life to learn these lessons.
