This song is a rewrite of a song based on Psalm 47 from the Bible. The original song used a modified selection of text from Psalm 47 and I was curious about why certain text seemed fitting and why other text was omitted. After searching through various interpretations I discovered that the message of Psalm 47 felt very brittle and very nationalistic. As I considered how to work with the existing text I allowed myself to depart from it and didn't look back. I imagined a holy man preparing a message of spiritual importance and then I asked myself what is important to me, here and now. This became and exploration of and celebration of singing! I learned that The psalms –are from the Greek for “songs accompanied by a stringed instrument”
